With Captain Wells, we have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people that inspire us. We have become friends with a lot of different artists who continue to push and inspire us to create. However, we have also met people with inspirational stories outside of the convention circuit.
One of the best parts about doing conventions is getting to know the other artists. I love the community and just how wonderful and helpful everyone is! One of my favorite conventions to not only vend at but to bring my family to is Pretzcon. This is a family run conventions all about bringing people together over board games. This convention is also where I got to meet Andy Goergen from 8-bit Acrylic. His artwork brings back my childhood! Whenever I see him at a convention he is working on something and I love to watch his pieces come together! What follows is our Q&A:
For the past few years, Heather and I have been setting up and displaying our art at various shows, conventions, and vendor fairs. Some shows have been more successful than others (based on sales, price per table, etc.), but all of them have been pretty fun. In fact, we have met some pretty amazing people along the way (and not just the celebrity guests).
As an artist I love to try new things. I really love to try new art materials and it gets even better if I don’t have to pay or pay very little for those art materials! A local art store decided they would no longer carry the Pébéo line of art supplies and so discounted their remaining products 75% off. Needless to say I picked some up! I have no idea what I am doing and I am pretty sure I am not using these to the best of their abilities but this was fun. My husband who I try to get to create with me actually participated and I think he even had fun! Continue reading “Pébéo Art Fun!”
